MINUTES OF A PUBLIC HEARING

ON THE PROPOSED 2010 TAX RATE

CITY OF FORT THOMAS,

CAMPBELL COUNTY, KENTUCKY, ON

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2010

The Public Hearing was called to order by Mayor Brown at 5:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Building.  Present for the hearing were,  Mayor Mary Brown, Jim Doepker, Jill Steller, Eric Haas, and Tom Lampe. Staff members present were, City Administrator Don Martin, Finance Director Fred Ewald, City Clerk Melissa Kelly and City Attorney Jann Seidenfaden. The proof of publication was read by the clerk and stated that the legal notice was published in the Campbell County Recorder on Thursday, September 30, 2010 and on Thursday, October 7, 2010.  The notice is required under KRS 132.027, as passed by the Kentucky General Assembly.

The Clerk read the tax rate information for the record.  The proposed tax rate for 2010 is $.334 per $100, the compensating rate is $.321 per $100.  General areas of allocation are personnel, utilities, and supplies.

Mayor Brown called for comments from the audience.

Betty Reidmatter of 34 E. Kimberly Drive addressed Council.  Ms. Reidmatter stated for the record that she is against any type of increase in the taxes in Fort Thomas.  Don Martin noted that because of the increase in assessments this year by the County, the tax rate for Fort Thomas is being reduced instead of increased.

With no further comments, the meeting was adjourned at 5:15 p.m.
