WHEREAS, between 700 and 800 people die each
year in boating related accidents in the
WHEREAS,
the vast majority of the accidents are caused by human error of poor judgment
and not by the boat, equipment, or environmental factors; and,
WHEREAS, a significant number of boaters who
lose their lives by drowning each year would be alive today had they worn their
life jackets; and
WHEREAS,
modern life jackets are more comfortable, more attractive, and more wearable
than styles of years past and deserve a fresh look by today's boating public;
and
WHEREAS,
as a public service and to help
promote safe boating, The Cincinnati Sail and Power Squadron, Ohio Department
of Natural Resources, United States Coast Guard, United States Coast Guard
Auxiliary, and Kentucky Water Patrol, have joined with national organizations
to sponsor and publicize National Safe Boating Week; and
“The
SAFE
BOATING WEEK”
within
the City of Ft. Thomas, and hereby ask that all citizens will “Boat Smart
from the Start” and practice safe boating habits at all times.
