WHEREAS,
WHEREAS,
Rice moved to Fort Thomas in 1942 where he became an all-state
quarterback, all conference basketball guard and a track sprint champion at
Highlands High School; and
WHEREAS, by his
senior year he was captain of the football team that was named conference
champion, he then left Northern Kentucky to attend Centre College where he
excelled as an all-American quarterback; and
WHEREAS, as a high
school coach, Rice was named the “Winningest football
coach in America 1960,” as a college coach, his development of the triple-option
attack revolutionized offensive football; and
WHEREAS, as Director
of Athletics at
WHEREAS, Rice is a
founding member of the Fort Thomas Junior Football League that will celebrate
80 years of youth football this year; and
WHEREAS, on July 3,
