gathered today on this occasion to honor and acknowledge the dedication and
numerous professional achievements of Mrs. Marie Shields, who has retired from
the teaching profession after more than 30 years of service to the children of
Ft. Thomas; and

friends, and co-workers in sharing our deep admiration for her commitment to
the academic development of each child whom she has taught as a Title I,

has lovingly guided her little "Shieldsies"

yielded their best work; and

has inspired four of her five own children to join her in this noble and worthy
profession as educators of our youth; and

is joined here today by her husband of nearly 43 years, Coach Ken Shields, and
children/spouses, Dawn and Mike Hils, Gina and Tom

Whereas, after raising
her own children as a stay-at-home mom, completing several advanced degrees and
fulfilling her professional duties from '80-'08 (1980-2008), while educating
the youth of our community in a manner which would make her parents, Herman and
Marie Brue, so very proud, Marie Shields has now
earned the time to travel, read, spend time with her grandchildren, sew, and
rest.
