Whereas, the
vitality of the City of Fort Thomas, Kentucky depends upon safe homes,
neighborhoods, schools,
workplaces, and communities;
Whereas, crime destroys
and fear debilitates our faith and trust in others, elected officials and in
civic institutions, threatening the community’s life, liberty, and general
welfare;
Whereas, people
of all ages from all walks of life, must be made aware of their personal
responsibility in helping people keep themselves, their families, and their
communities safe from crime;
Whereas, people
of all ages must be informed of the dangers of technology crime and how they
can protect themselves from potential danger of those who would use technology
to commit crime;
Whereas, the
personal injury, financial loss, and community deterioration resulting from
crime are intolerable and require investment from the whole community to
eradicate;
Whereas, adults
must invest time, resources, and policy support in effective prevention and
intervention
strategies for youth, so too must teens actively engage in driving crime from
their communities;
Whereas, crime
prevention initiatives are not the sole responsibility of law enforcement, communities
must work together with law enforcement to promote collaborative efforts that
make neighborhoods safer for all people and develop positive opportunities for
young people to thrive;
Whereas, effective
crime prevention programs excel because of partnerships among law enforcement,
other government agencies, civic groups, schools, faith communities,
businesses, and individuals as they help nurture communal responsibility and
instill pride;
Therefore, I Mary
H. Brown, Mayor of the City of Fort Thomas, Kentucky, do hereby proclaim
